Right now, during these fiscal cliff debates, this is what keeps coming to mind, the “Ramming Speed” sequence from Ben Hur. In the bowels of a Roman warship the masters attempt to break the slaves’ will by increasing the speed of the ship from Battle Speed, to Attack Speed, and finally to Ramming Speed. Likewise, the politicians of today are trying to break us, by speeding us to a fiscal cliff of their own making. However they will also learn that like, Ben Hur, no matter what their actions we will not be broken.
Happy New Year!

Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. ~ Noah Webster 1787

“YOU SHALL NOT PASS!” ~ Gandalf the Grey
Like Gandalf, we too are engaged in an epic battle for our beliefs and our country against powerful forces. Conservatives won a great victory last night against the Speaker, but the fight is not over.
Perhaps we too are at our own turn of the tide. Even so, the battle will be fierce. We are being attacked on multiple fronts. Make sure you are ready.
University of Mobile version of the traditional Christmas Carol. Merry Christmas.
Lee Stranahan interviews Clint about the attack at the AFP tent. This gentleman was attacked for merely associating with AFP at the rally and selling his hotdogs to conservatives in an act of free market commerce. For this he must be punished. It sounds like his attackers were not union members, but Black Bloc members who are attempting to seed unrest and violence and in the process bring down capitalism.
As conservatives we must take back the culture. One way to do that is to literally stand up and perform our values. In both of these videos religious individuals use flash mobs take to public spaces, malls, during Christmas time in order to inject the Christ, back into the commercialization of Christmas holiday.
As moving as these video are they also provide a way forward and possible strategy for political conservatives. The videos both begin with an individual taking a stand by raising their voice, which then allows other individuals to join in. Some of those people are part of the flash mob, but some are not, and others gain comfort and solace just from seeing the demonstration of faith and belief. The videos are also designed to be shared via YouTube so that the message can reach father over time and space than the incident in that mall on that day.
We must find similar ways to perform our traditional American values in public and give people an opportunity to see that they are not alone.
A fantastic discussion of history, the electorate and the future of Americanism.
The end is nigh, or is it? NRO Founding Editor Jonah Goldberg and National Review Editor-at-Large John O’Sullivan discuss the implications of Obama’s reelection. Was there a shift in the American electorate, or did Romney simply run a poor campaign and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? Are ethnic and racial politics entering a new phase of increased balkanization? Some conservatives want to allow the country to fall off the fiscal cliff. Others want to give Obama the tax hikes he demands. Trifecta wonders whether the real solution to out of control federal entitlement spending is to sit back and allow the nation to hit the debt ceiling. via PJTV

This is why we need to police the pop culture and produce the culture we consume. Otherwise we will simply consume whatever is fed to us, and be ignorant of who and what we are really supporting.
We spent money on WHAT? If this is what Congress is spending money on it is no wonder we are about to go over the fiscal cliff. H/T Breitbart
